Senior Program
East Central Senior CenterOffers a varied selection of recreational activities, self-improvement activities, educational opportunities and health enhancement programs. Adapts programs to meet the needs of the growing senior population. We also have volunteering opportunities. We serve as a social center, helping seniors establish and maintain friendships, have an active mind and body and improve quality of life for all. The Senior Program is sponsored by Spokane Parks & Recreation, Community Development Block Grant the the East Central Neighborhood Wellness Association.

Our mission is to provide nutrition, education and recreation for seniors. East Central agrees to offer membership and participation to people regardless of race, gender, religion, disability or economic status.
Smart Health Wellness Program
Our members are encouraged to participate in the many free wellness programs we offer:

- Balance Training and Flexibility
- Relaxation
- Blood Pressure Checks
- Nursing Care
- Health Seminars
- Speakers, Clinics and Classes
- Low-cost Massage Therapy
Friendship
In everything we do, we promote friendship. Our center has a warm and inviting atmosphere. We aim to treat everyone like family.
We offer a wide range of education classes from Better Breathers, massage therapy, foot care, reflexology and diabetes health. Nutrition education, physical fitness and smoking cessation classes are also offered.
Center Programs
We offer various programs without having to leave the community center. China painting, arts and crafts, American Sign Language, computer lab, Bunco, pampering and music.
Special Events
Some special events include performances from Project Joy, monthly themed socials, birthday club, holiday parties, spa parties (come and get pampered), community cook-outs, ice cream socials and special dinners. We have over 15 special events each year.
Who is eligible for this program?
Our activities are designed for adults 50 years of age and older. Our lunch program is designed for adults 60 years and older, as is our federally-subsidized Senior Enrichment programs.
Membership
Membership is a way to show your support of East Central. Membership is $10 per calendar year. Benefits include: a membership card, the newsletter mailed to your house and many free trips and special events.
Senior Nutrition Meal Site
The East Central Community Center’s Senior Program is a designated Senior Nutrition Meal site. Lunch is made possible by Aging & Long Term Care of Eastern Washington, via the Older Americans Act. Spokane Regional Health District oversees the program. Volunteers are welcome. There is a suggested donation of $3.00 for each meal and reservations are required.
